Es ist mein bestreben, ein Stück Kulturgeschichte dem Publikum zugänglich zu machen.
Da das ganze mit enormem Aufwand und Kosten verbunden ist, bin ich für jegliche finanzielle Unterstützung sehr dankbar.
Ich bin auch immer auf der Suche nach Prospekten, Unterlagen und Bilder über alte Pflüge. Auch hier würde es mich freuen, wenn ich die Sammlung weiter ausbauen könnte.
Auf drei Stockwerken einer ehemaligen Scheune zeigt "Pflug- Schwaninger" - mit goldenem Pflüglein im Ohr - die schönsten Stücke seiner Sammlung.
Zusammengetragen hat sie der heute als Servicemonteur für Melkanlagen tätige Landwirt nicht nur in der näheren Umgebung seiner Heimat. Kaufexpeditionen führten ihn auch in den südbadischen Raum, ins romanisch sprechende Bündnerland sowie in die französische Westschweiz, die oftmals in desolatem Zustand befindlichen Pflüge hat der Allrounder und Tüftler, Holzschnittkünstler, Jodler und Alphornspieler allesamt in minutiöser Kleinarbeit selbst restauriert. Nebenbei sei erwähnt, dass sich Urgrossvater Schwaninger als Pflugschmied betätigte.
Neben vereinzelten Stücken aus Frankreich, Italien und Griechenland sind auch Modelle der jüngsten Vergangenheit zu sehen. Als Besonderheit etwa ein Kreiselpflug, Marke Raussendorff, der 1960er Jahre.
Ein Glücksfall stellte die Übernahme der Sammlung Dr. Brütsch dar. Der nicht weniger idealistische, in Winterthur tätige Chirurg und Pflugsammler begrüsste altershalber eine Überführung seiner Bestände in das bestehende Pflugmuseum. Auf diese Weise entstand eine Kollektion von fast siebzig Ausstellungsstücken.

The one time farmer, now working as a mechanic servicing milking machines, didn’t find all his artifacts in the region. Buying expeditions took him to southern Germany, to Graubünden and to the French speaking part of Switzerland. He often found the ploughs in desolate condition and the allrounder, wood carver, jodelling artist and alphorn player lovingly restored them all with painstaking attention to detail. By the way, great-grandfather Schwaninger was a ploughsmith.
Alongside pieces from France, Italy and Greece there are also some models from recent times. A speciality is a spinning plough, made by Raussendorff, from the 1960ies.
A lucky coincidence was the possiblity to take over a collection by Dr. Brütsch.The idealistic surgeon, working and living in Winterthur and an avid plough collector, was pleased to be able to hand over his collection to the Museum for Ploughs, where there are now nearly seventy pieces on exhibition.
