General historical about the plow
The spread of plow types corresponds substantially to the cultural geographical division of Switzerland.
In the flat and hilly Middleland heavy plows were in use, in the small areas in the Alps and Southern Alpine
Area, however, light wooden plows and "Haken"
(Unterwallis, Graubünden), or hoe was operated (Oberwallis, Tessin) .
With a hoe, spade or fork pricking you worked in the Grass economic zone north of the Alps, as in many places,
which were unfavorable for the plow. In many places, was dug by hand,
because the farmers did not possess its own draft animals.
